This charming Northcote bathroom transformation celebrates the home’s heritage while injecting a fresh, playful spirit. Working within the original period footprint, we embraced the existing pink pedestal basin and tub, framing them with custom blush scallop tiles that bring a sense of whimsy and warmth. Crisp white subway tiles and classic black-framed glass screens add modern contrast, while the hexagonal monochrome floor tile grounds the design in timeless character. A sleek recessed niche—edged in black—provides clever storage without disrupting the tile field. This petite space proves that thoughtful design can honour the past and feel entirely bespoke—transforming everyday routines into moments of delightful nostalgia and style.

"The clients wanted to keep the Art Deco charm while bringing the bathroom into this century. The standalone shower recess was replaced with a toilet to create a comfortable family bathroom. A shower over bath was built with a large niche in the shower wall for plenty of storage. The original vinal floor was replaced with a monochrome mosaic tile. The original pedestal basin and bath had a resurface to color match the new blush, fish scale feature tile. Gloss white tiles and black details retain the Art Deco flavor."
